Iran 2006

So a few of us ran the Belfast Marathon on Monday. Really? Yes – and the teams I mentioned in the other post as well. The most spectacular finish of the day came from PJ’s heroes, who had set as a target getting under 3 and a half hours, and we watched at the finish line as it looked like they’d missed it before Young Steve came powering over the finish line with a time of 03:29:34 – an improvement of about 33 minutes from last year.

The useless cameras only took photos of 1 or 2 people from each team – I was doing the same leg as Conor but I still never got one! I ran most of my leg with David Fallows of the Kilraughts team, who eventually put in a time of 04:08:08

We also managed to hit our target of under 4 hours, although it wasn’t just as tight as PJ’s, Lindsay crossed the line on 03:51:19 – about 35 minutes quicker than last year’s Renwick team (although this year Piemonger and Fiona were replaced with me and Strob). Watch Lindsay finish.

As for those doing the whole thing, Bob Robb did it in 03:28:18, Davy Sunderland did it in 03:54:41 and Sammy McCollum did it in 04:36:45.

None of us managed to get any snaps of Amy and Cream Bun who ran the first leg together, but when we dandered into town after we saw a representation of them!

no mention of the walkers then!?

  2. Cromie Robert Says:

…and no mention of the 4/5 RP team entitled “Are We There Yet?”, comprising John McCune, Gavin Blackwell, Sarah someone, yours truly and Claire McCaughan? We pipped the Renwick team with a time of 03:46:51…

  3. Steve Says:

Cromie, what was your team number? There were 4 teams with that name, but if you search for photos of the team with the time you say above (3229), there’s only photos of a guy who isn’t you, John, Gavin or Claire. So unless he’s called Sarah…?!

Pam I can hardly mention walkers in a post entitled ‘Iran’ – but if you don’t mind the general public knowing that you, Claire, Heather and Lynda walked half the marathon that’s fine!

  4. Cromie Robert Says:

3516 was our team…mind you, i went and checked afterwards and there are no photos of us…so you’re partially off the hook…
