Wow

Last night I listened to the 2nd of Teddy Donnelly’s four talks on Justification that I linked to recently (which are completely brilliant). In it he quoted question 60 of the Heidelberg Catechism. Get a load of this:

Question: How are thou righteous before God?

Answer: Only by a true faith in Jesus Christ; so that, though my conscience accuse me, that I have grossly transgressed all the commandments of God, and kept none of them, and am still inclined to all evil; notwithstanding, God, without any merit of mine, but only of mere grace, grants and imputes to me, the perfect satisfaction, righteousness and holiness of Christ; even so, as if I never had had, nor committed any sin: yea, as if I had fully accomplished all that obedience which Christ has accomplished for me; inasmuch as I embrace such benefit with a believing heart.

STS: correction

Friday, June 24th, 2005

A typo in STS had me confused for a while this morning, however I eventually found out what it was trying to say after checking an older edition we had in the house. So, if anyone’s using the blue version of STS you might want to turn to page 66 and under Study 3 on Hosea, question 2, change ‘a warning to the southern kingdom of Judah not totally herself with Israel’ to ‘not to allay herself’.

If anybody cares…

Social & Cultural Contours of Europe (ie European Studies): 65 | Introduction to History II (The Making of Modern Scotland): 62 | Ancient History 2 (Romans): 63

Typically, I got lowest in the subject I’m actually doing my degree in! And I also got highest in the exam I thought I’d done worst in.
