The seriousness of sin

Monday, May 30th, 2005

“For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” Romans 5:19

“Only one sin. Some of you see little evil in one sin, or in a hundred sins; but here you see one sin cast Adam and all his children out of paradise. God did not wait till it was repeated. It appeared a small sin. The outward action was small – only stretching out the hand and taking an inviting fruit. Some of you think little of sins that make no great noise; such as breaking the Sabbath, drinking too much, speaking what is false, sitting down Christless at the Lord’s table; but see here, one small sin brought a world under the curse of God. God would rather a world should perish than one small sin go unpunished.”

Robert Murray M’Cheyne, from God Makes a Path, a book of daily devotional readings compiled by Stanley Barnes, p73.

Airdrie fans…

Check this out. The leader of the upcoming RP Missions team is over a few days early and he’s writing about it in his blog. This bit cracked me up, because it’s so true!

After the evening service I went over to Rob and Jess’s house for a time of fellowship. Rob and Jess have this huge dog that looks exactly like a wolf and I spent part of the evening nervously watching it disembowel a massive stuffed monkey.

CY Prayer Requests

Friday, May 27th, 2005

Just another reminder that this is the deadline for submitting CY Prayer Requests for June. Still a very small amount of people doing it sadly, although this month we have first entries from Trinity and Airdrie (since I’ve been running it anyway)! If you miss the deadline or if you aren’t able to add them, send them to me by Tuesday (31st) and I’ll put them on.
