More RP audio sermons online

Friday, April 29th, 2005

In my stumbling around the internet tonight I came across the Free Church of Scotland’s School in Theology which although ‘independent from the church courts’ is now ‘effectively organized by the Continuing Church’. But avoiding that confusing stuff, I started to get interested when looking at a picture from their 2004 Report I saw a familiar looking guy and said to myself “That man looks like John Hawthorne”. Anyway a wee scroll down and it was him! (He’d been talking about Dealing with Discouragement in the Ministry at their 2004 Conference). Then I went to see who’d been speaking at their previous conferences and I saw such household names as David Sutherland, Mr Silversides, Knox Hyndman, Norris Wilson and David McKay. All available for £2.50 sterling each. But then I saw that they had some online: Mr Silversides on The Free Offer of the Gospel, Sutherland on Romans 11: All Israel? and David Silversides again on Regulative Principle Defined and Applied. So far I’ve listened to Sunderland’s, although annoyingly it cuts out with about 3 minutes to go. The site says that ‘the recordings of the 2004 lectures will be available for purchase soon’, but they seem to be a long time getting the finger out…rather like our own Jeff ;) All the recordings are in Real Audio format btw.

Who’s the hero now?!!

On Saturday night after I made that excitable post about Ken Ham starting a blog, I fired off an email to Matt Mullenweg, who created wordpress – the software used on this blog, Ken Ham’s and many many more all over the world. Matt usually puts things on his website about famous companies / people who’ve started using wordpress and he put on that living legend Strob Ken Ham was now using it.

Aul Ken wasn’t slow to notice anyway!

It’s interesting to see who has been looking at the blog. Lots of different people! Even the author of the software we are using mentioned it! (Thank you for WordPress). Those of you reading this, who don’t understand or agree with everything (or anything) I’m talking about — or what Answers in Genesis stands for — I’d encourage you to think about it some more — head over to the site and take a look.

God really is awesome!

Ken

Happy Days Altogether Like. Anyway, enough of blowing my own trumpet. Saw a post on Ken’s blog that really cracked me up:

A five year old boy asked Buddy Davis for his autograph — he then carried it around all day and wouldn’t let his mother take it from him — Buddy Davis was his hero!

It was a 5 year old – but it could easily describe certain people in Renwick!

Ken Ham starts a blog!

He hinted at it during his diary of AIG’s UK tour back in March…and now Ken Ham has started his own blog. Class!

He’s included his earlier comments about the UK tour so if you missed his comments on how great his time in Norn Iron was you can read it here.

Brilliant!

Also, a quote from their latest email that I really liked:

We’ve been so brainwashed by evolution, that many of us automatically think that a caveman was some form of primitive, almost apelike, grunting human.

But just because men lived in caves, doesn’t mean that they were primitive—it just means they lived in caves. Even people today live in caves. In fact, some people have their homes built over the entrance to caves.

That bit in bold is typical Ken Ham! But remember, as Pete McC says, he’s just a man!

They also have a new prayer website going: www.aigprayer.org

Airdrie – some place

Tuesday, April 19th, 2005

And they’re having a mission from this week. Started last night and finishes on Friday night. This is the brochure they gave out to all 14,000 homes in Airdrie when the GO Team was over. Except the actual one is in colour. SAQ is speaking from 7-8pm each night. Remember to pray for it.
